First Reconciliation and First Eucharist
This is a two-year program. The child must attend 1st grade or Level 1* (see below) for a full year in order to enter the 2nd grade or Level 2 program. First Reconciliation preparation and First Eucharist preparation each last for several months and involve classroom instruction, parent meetings, and prayer celebrations. The involvement and cooperation of the parents in this program is essential and required because they are directly involved with the preparation of their children. Children, who complete this period of preparation and are fully ready, will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the winter and the Sacrament of First Eucharist in the spring of the second year.
* Level 1 is a specific class for children/youth entering the Religious Education program after 2nd grade.
It is our goal to teach your children to seek God in their everyday experiences and to recognize Jesus in everyone they meet. It is so very important that you, the parents and primary educators, be actively involved in their Sacramental preparation. Attending Mass each Sunday is an important part of this preparation.
