Gary Norton Memorial Award

Mr. Gary Norton was a Christian gentleman, a devout Catholic, and a devoted family man with the highest moral and ethical principles. His faith was very important to him. He was a long time active member of the Our Lady of Angels Men’s Club, a positive role model for the youth of our community, and an inspirational leader in our parish. He led by his actions, words, attitude, and presence. He had a desire to serve others and did it well. He was a true witness to our faith!

The Our Lady of Angels Men’s Club has established, the OLA Men’s Club Gary Norton Memorial Award, in memory of and honor of our friend. It will be based on merit and not financial need.

We as Christians, like Mr. Norton, are called upon to proclaim or witness to our faith in many ways, as we journey through life. All of us either by our words, actions, or attitudes have an influence on others, whether we realize it or not!

Some people are born to be leaders; others become leaders by their actions and still others by their presence. One common characteristic that true leaders demonstrate is the desire to serve. Jesus said, "The greatest among you is the one who serves others."

To Apply for the Award

The award is open to all OLA School and CCD 8th grade students. Applications will be available on March 3, 2008. Please contact OLA 8th grade teacher Mrs. Judy O’Rourke or the CCD office.

This committee will recommend several applicants to the OLA Men’s Club Board for consideration of the Gary Norton Memorial Award. The Men’s Club Board may elect, in any given year, that no qualified applicant has been presented and may decline to make the award.
