OLA School of Religion
Mission
Our Lady of Angels School of Religion is an integral part of our parish community. We are committed to helping parents provide their children with a solid spiritual foundation for their Roman Catholic faith. Our teachers are role models of service to the community. Our goal is to create an open and respectful learning environment that embodies Christian values for every student. Our curriculum emphasizes an understanding of our histroy through the Old Testament, teachings of Jesus in the New Testament and the truths and traditions of the Roman Catholic faith. Through these endeavors, we support parents in their duty to teach their children to live everyday as followers of Christ.

Sacramental Preparation
First Reconciliation and First Eucharist Preparation
This is a two-year program. The child must attend 1st grade or Level 1* (see below) for a full year in order to enter the 2nd grade or Level 2 program. First Reconciliation preparation and First Eucharist preparation each last for several months and involve classroom instructions, parent meetings, and prayer celebrations. The involvement and cooperation of the parents in this program is essential and required because they are directly involved with the preparation of their children. Children who are completing this period of preparation and are fully ready, will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the winter and the Sacrament of First Eucharist in the spring of the second year.
* Level 1 is a specific class for children/youth entering the Religious Education program after 2nd grade.
Confirmation
This is a three-year program. Doctrinal instruction takes place in grades seven and eight. Students who have completed these two years of preparation in grades seven and eight, and desire to be confirmed, may enroll as high school students in the parish program of spiritual preparation. This spiritual preparation for the Sacrament lasts for several months and culminates in the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
